About IEEE Citation Style

The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) citation style is commonly used in engineering, computer science, and technology fields. It uses numbered references in the text that correspond to a numbered reference list at the end of the document.

General Rules

In-Text CitationsUse square brackets with numbers: [1], [2], [3], etc. Multiple citations: [1], [2] or [1]–[3] for consecutive numbers.
Reference ListNumber references in order of appearance. Use hanging indent. Include DOI when available.
Author NamesUse initials for first and middle names. Format: “J. K. Smith” or “J. K. Smith and A. B. Doe”

Example:

Books

Format:[1] Author(s), Book Title, Edition. City: Publisher, Year.
Example:
[2] J. K. Smith, Machine Learning Fundamentals, 2nd ed. New York: IEEE Press, 2024.
